Survivor Micronesia: Recap

The Black Widow Brigade is in full swing on Survivor Micronesia. Cirie devised the plan to blindside Ozzy and Parvati orchestrated Jason’s demise. James is taken out by an injury to his finger and Alexis is taken out next by the group, never seeing it coming when the immunity idol is unexpectedly played. The game is now down to five, Natalie, Cirie, Amanda, Parvati, and Eric who has the dubious title of Survivor Micronesia’s last man standing.

Eric feels that Amanda made him feel like a fool and speculates about winning the reward challenge. If he wins it he won’t get to go to Exile Island and find the immunity idol, but if he doesn’t win, there is no guarantee that he will be sent to the Island either. He feels it is crucial to his survival on Survivor Micronesia to win either the immunity necklace or hold the immunity idol.

Cirie tells Amanda and Parvati that Eric can’t win the immunity idol or they might come to the end of their reign. Cirie says that Amanda has to get in Eric’s head. Amanda tells Eric that if she wins she will take him and if he wins he needs to take her. She says that the most physical and most strategic players need to work together. She says that Eric is very naive and that she can push it so that Parvati goes to the island. She points out to him that Parvati is so weak that she won’t look for it and he needs to look out for himself. He feels that Parvati and Amanda are trying to talk him into something that wasn’t a part of his plan, but he needs to think it through.

The challenge is a test of how well they know this game. It is about past Survivors and the first to four will win. They will get a tour of the Rock Islands by helicopter and a night in a hotel, spa treatment, and dinner. In addition, the winner gets to send one person to Exile Island to search for the rehidden immunity idol. Jeff clarifies that the last time it can be played is at this tribal council, so they have one shot at finding it and using it.

The questions:
On which season of Survivor did a castaway have a pet snake? Correct answer is Pearl Island when Rupert had a pet snake, Balboa. Cirie and Eric get it right.
On which season of Survivor did a shark bite a survivor and in retaliation, the survivor bit it back? It was All Stars and Richard Hatch. Natalie and Amanda score a point.
On which season of Survivor did a tribemate ask another tribemate to pee on their hand after being stung by a sea urchin? The correct answer was Survivor Marcasas with Jon asking Kathy to do the deed. Eric is the only one to get it right. Eric has two points, Natalie and Amanda and Cirie have one point.
During which season of Survivor was one of the castaways evacuated after falling into the fire. The correct answer is Survivor Australia when Michael fell into the fire. Cirie, Eric, and Parvati are right. Eric was only fourteen when this happened and Jeff comments that this is proof of his superfan status. Eric is ahead with 3 points, Cirie has 2, and the rest have one point.
During which season of Survivor did we first divide the castaways into four separate tribes. The first time was on Exile Island. Cirie, Natalie, and Eric are correct and Eric wins reward. He decides to take Amanda with him and sends Parvati to Exile Island. He says that he gave Amanda his word that he would take her and she gave him her word that she would take him. Jeff promises them a nice spa, meal and good night’s sleep and sends them off to the waiting helicopter.

Natalie thinks that Eric is in her pocket, but is given a rude awakening when Eric chooses Amanda to go with him on reward and at the same time sends Parvati to Exile Island to search for the immunity idol. Natalie had spoken to Eric earlier and thought that she would be the one chosen to go to Exile Island to garner the idol. Natalie thinks that if it smells like a rat it might be, and Cirie takes advantage of the situation to rib Natalie and stir the pot. They wonder why, if they want to get Amanda out, why he didn’t send her to Exile so they can take Amanda out. She thinks that he is a weasel. She says that jerking Natalie’s chain by saying that you don’t feed and bathe the person that you are planning to send out.

The helicopter trip is amazing. Eric says that he knows that it will upset Natalie, but a part of him wants to get to know Amanda better and says that if he took Natalie there would be no relaxation, something he thinks he really needs. After tribal council he feels he needs to redeem himself with Amanda who felt betrayed by him. The trip includes a ride on a Bell helicopter, spa treatment, and a feast. Over dinner, Eric shares his personal life with Amanda, talking about his job as an ice cream server. He wonders if he is going to kick himself later over his choice to take her over Natalie, who was clearly counting on him including her in his plans. He feels that he is in a power position and his job hasn’t put him in that kind of decision making position. Amanda and Eric return without fanfare, but Amanda brings her pillow from the reward trip.

On Exile, Parvati takes some time to sun herself and be alone. She is not finding herself inspired to look for the idol because she, Amanda, and Cirie plan to go to the end together. She isn’t in any hurry to go look for it and spends her time laying on a towel working on her tan. She says that this is a vacation and she is going to enjoy herself.

Back at camp, Natalie will not look Eric in the eye and she is very upset with him. Eric talks with Cirie about the jury votes going for Natalie and Amanda and how it might be a good thing for him, Cirie, and Parvati to make a run for the end. He says that no matter who he chose for the reward he was going to make people angry. He says that they should get rid of either Nat or Amanda.

Natalie tracks down Amanda and Cirie and tells them what she overheard. Cirie, who was a part of the conversation, confirms it. Parvati laughs over the fact that he tells each woman something different. Eric sees the girls comparing notes and knows that all the women now think he is full of crap. He says that the girls don’t trust him, he has made a lot of mistakes, and now it is crucial for him to win the next immunity challenge.

Jeff calls them all to do the immunity challenge and welcomes Parvati back from Exile Island. In this challenge they will work to solve three puzzles. Using a set of ropes to track coordinates, the suriviors will place them over carvings that will allow the ropes to cross, presenting the spot under which to dig to locate the next puzzle bag. When they retreive the puzzle bag, they will race to the table to construct the puzzle which will give them the coordinates to place the next ropes in order to find the next bag.The winner of this immunity is guarenteed a spot in the final four. Eric is out quickly and takes an early lead. Eric has his first bag and runs back to solve his first puzzle. Each of the girls are still digging. Cirie is next back with her bag of puzzle pieces, but Eric has solved his first puzzle and is back out with his second set of coordinates. Eric has his second bag, while the girls are lagging because of the digging. Eric’s lead increases as Amanda and Cirie are still digging for their second bag. Eric is digging for his last bag, has the bag and runs back to solve his final puzzle. Cirie, Amanda, and Natalie are still digging for their second bag. Eric has his third puzzle together and reading the words, “guaranteed final four” he knows he has won the immunity necklace.

The girls, led by Cirie come up with a hairbrained plan to get Eric out. Natalie goes to Eric and asks him to give up his idol to her, and promises that Cirie will vote out Amanda for that. He doesn’t see why they need for him to give up his immunity to do that, and Natalie says that they need to see an act of faith after all his manipulating of them. She says that this will redeem him with the jury and show them that he is working with them. He goes to Cirie and talks to her. She says that she needs proof and this will show his faith. Eric wants a jury vote and Cirie tells him that this will prove faith with her. Cirie tells the cameras that if Eric gives the idol away he will be gone so fast that he won’t have time to blink. Cirie thinks that he might be nibbling around the edges and thinks this blindside might work. Eric worries about the existence of the immunity idol and wants to change it to Parvati. Cirie says that is fine with her.

At tribal council Eric says that he wanted to mend fences with Amanda, knowing that he has had little trust from her. After revealing this Amanda responds that he only did that to get her jury vote. Eric admits that he messed up, but wants to come clean. Parvati says that Exile Island was a vacation, but she returned to find out that Eric has made deals with each of the girls. Amanda says that Eric only wanted her jury vote, and his actions speak louder than his words, which have been very untrustworthy. Eric says that he wants to make amends, and he hopes, game aside, that there is some sense of foregiveness for him. Parvati and Amanda are carving him up and Jeff is playing right into their plan with his line of questioning. Cirie and Amanda are quiet. Eric finds that he needs some sort of redemption and when Jeff asks if you can ever find redemption after acts that provoke a lack of trust? Cirie says that it does matter. She says that you are able to redeem yourself and your actions will show and prove what is really going on. Eric is asked if he will give up the necklace. He says that it is a tough decision, but actions do speak louder than words and he gives the immunity to Natalie. Everyone is shocked that the plan worked. The jury laughs and James is swinging his fist in glee. Amanda says, “Oh wow!” As Amanda votes him out she says that she “doesn’t know what to say but thank you.” Cirie votes him out saying that there is more than one way to win the game. Parvati says that he “will officially go down as the dumbest surivor ever.” Jeff calls for the hidden immunity idol and no one presents it.

The votes:
Eric, Parvati, Eric, Eric. Eric is voted out and his response is “You guys drive me crazy. I should have known better.” James says, “I lost my ring.” Jeff says, “I think you have here what you can only call a life lesson.”

Eric says that he never thought he would be shoulder to shoulder with his idols and this experience is not only about surviving the elements, but surviving the girls. He is flabberghasted at how he was taken by them.
